Padraig started playing classical piano at the age of 6 and continued through the grades during primary and secondary school. He first played traditional Irish music while part of a music group in secondary school with well-known Galway flute player, Eric Cunningham. During his time in college, he continued to develop a love for traditional music and regularly played in sessions. He has a keen interest in songs that tell a story and it was his singing that won him an All Ireland Scor Medal with a ballad group from his homeland in County Mayo. It was in a music session in the Connemara Gaeltacht that he met his lovely wife, Fiodhna in 1992. During the past 16 years, they have played in sessions and concerts in Thailand, Kuwait, Ireland, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. Padraig has featured as backing vocals on Ann Gardiner’s CD “Tipperary’s Hills for Me”.
